OLF Editorial

Kenya should not Tolerate the Killings of Oromos by the Meles Zenawi Regime in its’ Territory any Longer.
Editorial Statement of OLF:

On September 4, 2007, the killing-squad of the TPLF government of Ethiopia has murdered Mr. Gaaromsaa Abdisaa, a resident of Moyale, Kenya. On the same day, the body of an Oromo woman believed to be murdered by the same killing squad of Meles Zenawi regime was found in the same town. What is more disturbing is that these Oromos have been murdered in broad day light right in front of the Kenyan Government office, as it has been a common practice in recent years. The killing-squad, which is an army full of a military track, trespassed into Kenyan territory, committed the crime, and returned to Ethiopian side of the border without any inquiry.

Such a heinous murder crime on Oromo individuals by the Woyane regime is not the first one. It has been a permanent policy of the Meles Zenawi regime since 1991, when OLF was part of the then Transitional Government of Ethiopia. At that time, frustrated by the overwhelming support that the OLF has gained from the Oromo people, the regime started mass arrest, harassment and killing of Oromo civilians by violating the agreement of the then Transitional Charter of Ethiopia. Since then the murder of the Oromo people continued unabated inside Ethiopia and in neighboring countries such as Somalia, Djibouti, Sudan, and Kenya.

The objective of such cowardice act of the regime is to intimidate the Oromo people from supporting the OLF and their liberation struggle. However, the objective of the regime miserably failed in this regard as the Oromo people are determined more than ever and continued their struggle for freedom and justice.

The Oromo people have been killed by all the successive Ethiopian regimes. However, it is a historical fact that the current terrorist Woyane regime led by Meles-Zenawi has massacred more people of this country, particularly the Oromo people, with un imaginable magnitude than any other Ethiopian government of the past, including the fascist Derg regime. Moreover, the current terrorist Ethiopian government crossed the legal border of the neighboring countries to particularly kill Oromo refugees . For example, among hundreds of Oromos killed in the neighboring countries by the killing squad of the TPLF regime are:

● Mr. Jaatani Ali Tandhu killed in Nairobi in 1992;

● Mr.  Taaroo Soraa (Chief Kenya) killed around Sololo-Kenya in 1995;

● Mr. Hussen Soraa Aagolee (a Kenyan citizen and lawyer), killed in Nairobi in 1995;

● Mr. Xuusee Areeroo killed in the town of Moyyale, Kenya in 1996;

● Mr. Mul’is Abbaa Gadaa (High-level leader of OLF), killed in Mogadishu in 1999;

● Mr. Hajj Hassan killed in the town of Moyle, Kenya in 1999;

● Mr. Qallaa Waaqoo Beeroo (a Kenyan citizen), killed in the town of Saakuu in 1999;

● Mr. Qassim Mohammad killed in the town of Moyale, Kenya in 2001;

● Mr. Halakhee Diidoo killed in the town of Moyale, Kenya in 2003;

● Mr. Areeroo Galgaloo killed in the town of Moyale, Kenya in 2004;

The above names are just few examples of several hundreds of Oromos brutally murdered in neighboring countries by the fascist regime of Meles Zenawi. However, the number of Oromos who have been disappeared, arrested, women who have been raped, and the number of people who are tortured, became disabled and murdered after they have been forcefully deported to Ethiopia by the neighboring countries such as Djibouti, Somalia, Sudan and Kenya is probably in tens of thousands.

It is a historical blunder for Kenya to tolerate the policy of killing by the current minority Tigrian regime led by Meles Zenawi. OLF believes that the Kenyan government should have a clear foreign policy that governs its relationship with its neighbors and should abide by that policy. It is the lack of such a clear policy that led to continues loss of lives of Oromos living in both countries. We hope that the Kenyan government will adopt a policy that can stop the cross-border murder of Oromos by the minority TPLF regime in Ethiopia.

This is the position of OLF

Victory to the Oromo People!!
