The TPLF Regime Denied Oromo Farmers Selected Seeds
(OLF News, June 08, 2009) Our correspondent reported from Finfinnee (Addis Ababa) that the current TPLF regime denied Oromo farmers of Western Shoa zone, Bakkoo Tibbee district, distribution of selected seeds. The Central Agricultural Research Center of Bakko, which has been producing and distributing selected corn seeds to all regions is reported to have stopped production by the regime’s order, and this has exacerbated the problem, our reporter added. Many Oromo nationalists believe that, the current TPLF regime, which sees the Oromo people as number one enemy, has created such artificial problem deliberately in order to keep the Oromo farmers in poverty, in an attempt to make them kneel for the hegemony of the regime. It is seen time and again that the TPLF regime does anything in its power to systematically eradicate the Oromo people from the face of the earth.
Our sources added that due to this problem, at this time, the price of 12.5 Kg of selected corn seed has risen to over 650 Birr. The Oromo farmers, after preparing their land for sowing are now left with extreme tension and anxiety, as their families are now going to be exposed to famine.
While the farmers are in deep trouble due to lack of selected seed, the regime is reportedly wasting their time by sending cadres to agitate them for their upcoming election.
It is to be recalled that OLF News has reported on several occasions that the TPLF regime is using the distribution of selected seed, fertile land, fertilizer, and food aid for political purposes by denying these crucial items those farmers who oppose the regime’s tyrannical rule.
