The participants of the demonstration stated that the atrocities the current Ethiopian government is committing on the Oromo people is escalating from time to time, among which are harassing the entire Oromo population under the pretext of supporting OLF, deliberately inventing conflict between Oromo and other ethno-national groups, dividing the Oromo people along clan and religious lines, political repression and economic exploitation, and many more.
The main objective of the current demonstration of Oromo students of Hawasa University is to oppose the divide-and-rule policy the TPLF regime and to ask the government stop dividing the Oromo people along clan, regional, and religious lines and to ask stop orchestrating conflict not only between Oromos and several other national groups but also between Oromos and Oromos.
