(OLF News, September 28, 2009) Professor Asmerom Leggesse, a scholar who spent his life time studying about the Oromo Gadaa system and Oromo history and made known to the entire world have been given an honorary award from OLF. The award was given in a special dinner ceremony prepared for this event on September 20, 2009 at the OLF main office in the Eritrean Capital, Asmara .
Several OLF members and OLF leadership, invited guests, and other people who have made similar contributions in Oromo culture and history were present at the ceremony.
The vice chairman of OLF, Mr Gultum Biyyoo, after giving the award to Professor Asmerom Legesse in the name of OLF, explained some of the outstanding contributions the Professor has made in promoting and recording the Oromo history and the Oromo culture, particularly the Gadaa system.
On this occasion, several other individuals have made speeches and others have read poems that commend and glorify the work of Professor Asmerom Legesse.
